In the blabbed letter to Sajid Javid, Culture Secretary, Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury in the CA Parliament revealed his anxiety as to the amount of advertisements promoting gambling in the CA.

In his letter the Chief Secretary stressed the influence of such advertisements on children and asked the national Gambling Commission to launch some measures in this connection.

“I am writing because I am really worried as to the influence of online gambling advertisement that is shown at the breaks of various sports events. And children watch them too,” Danny Alexander wrote in the letter.

“Nowadays it is just impossible to meet any sports event broadcasting that is free from loads of anxious advertisements.” The Chief Secretary to the Treasury in the CA Parliament censured the former Labour Government in the growth of the amount of gambling advertisements, as in 2007 it liberalized on gambling operators and gave them a permission to show advertisement on TV before the watershed.

“Even now not everyone realizes the level of such advertisement and that it became a part of everyday TV, not all people realize the easy approach to online gambling (like playing Sizzling Hot slot) via modern mobile devices. Betting operators can’t be prevented from promoting their services, but this should be done only after 9 p.m. Sports event are favourite with families with children. I am sure that many people will agree as to the contents of such advertisements and the time it is broadcasted,” the Chief Secretary explained.
